Year 8 Wairarapa College Open Day Outing

All Year 8’s Wai Col Open Day - Week 3
Friday 7th August 1pm till 3.20pm.

Dear Parents and Whanau

On Friday the 7th August from 1 pm until 3.15 pm / 3.20pm, Wairarapa College has invited all of our Year 8’s along to their Open Day.  As there is no cost to our students, I would like to take them all along to see the Open Day at Wairarapa College.

While some of you have chosen other colleges to send you children to, it can be quite a good idea to look at all options.

The college will provide a bus and we will leave school around 1pm, returning a little late – approximately at 3.15 / 3.20pm.  So if your child goes on the bus home, can you please arrange other transport for this day?

If you do not want your child to go on this outing, please let us know and they will remain at school for the afternoon.

Regards

Lesley, Michelle and Mel

Year 8's EOTC Week 3

EOTC Year 8’s -  2nd Activity

Our second activity this year for the Year 8’s will be a tramp, navigation and gear day.  This will be the first of our main ‘Practice Tramps’ for Powell Hut plus Glenn will be teaching navigation skills and looking at what to gear to pack for an overnight tramp.  If the weather is bad, we have a ‘Wet day’ option at school.

When -  Wednesday the 5th of August - Week 3, Term 3

Where - Mt Holdsworth / Donnelly Flats

Our Provider – Glenn Beach [Kahikatea Outdoor Education Centre]

The students and adults [who are staying] will need to bring suitable footwear for our mini tramp, plenty to eat including lunch and water, warm clothes –no jeans to be worn, and thermals are a good idea too. No school uniforms.
[All students must have suitable clothing and footwear]

We will also need parent support and transport for the day.
